Runway Replacement Fund

Denver RC Eagles has been a fixture at Suhaka Field in Cherry Creek State Park for over 60 years, welcoming anyone interested in radio-controlled flight. Our club holds a unique place in the community, offering free flying lessons, providing all necessary equipment, and hosting monthly events that are always open to the public at no charge. With a 10-year lease from the state, we are responsible for maintaining the airfield, while the state manages the bathrooms and parking area. This partnership allows us to keep the field open and accessible to everyone, from seasoned pilots to curious newcomers and families who simply want to watch the action.
Unfortunately, the runway at Suhaka Field was originally built on a very limited budget and has suffered from years of patchwork repairs. It is now full of wide cracks and uneven surfaces, making it increasingly difficult and unsafe for flying activities. Despite our best efforts to maintain it, the time has come for a full replacement. Upgrading the runway will not only make flying safer and more enjoyable for everyone, but it will also allow us to bring the field up to ADA standards, ensuring accessibility for all members of the community. Lower maintenance costs will free up resources to further improve the field and expand our outreach.
By supporting this project, you are helping preserve a valuable community resource and ensuring that Suhaka Field remains a welcoming place for learning, fun, and connection for years to come. Every contribution brings us closer to a safer, more inclusive, and vibrant airfield for all.
